CD listening can be even better
Many unrelated things can be done in a new way. Professional brand Marantz builds on the previous success of its lines and models, offering improved technology, chassis and design. With all-round progress, everything continues to evolve, breaking boundaries and setting new standards. The same is true for CD equipment.

What is essential
The manufacturer builds on the familiar CD6006 model and uses new, modified components, new circuitry, quieter power supplies and better DACs. At the heart of the original model is an oversized low-noise transformer that powers the player's digital and analogue circuits. The central drive on the unit is very quiet. A new AKM AK4490 DAC is used, with which a choice of two filters can be applied, converting digital signals to analogue, and then routing them to gold-plated synchronised outputs. This is done using a small Marantz HDAM-SA2 signal amplifier. All this is offered by the special CD6007 player.

Features and Benefits
The CD6007 includes a front USB input that allows you to listen to music from portable storage devices at up to 24-bit/192 kHz or DSD128 resolution. It supports WAV, MP3, AAC, WMA, FLAC HD, ALAC, AIFF and DSD files. The player features a newly developed, sophisticated headphone amplifier with adjustable gain control for multiple headphone types. The chassis of the player is stiffer compared to the previous model, the bottom plate consists of two layers. The device is built on feet that reduce unwanted vibrations. It also includes a remote control, which is also used for the integrated PM6007 amplifier. The player operates with exceptional performance and the best sound from both digital and analogue sources. It is available in two colour options - black and silver/gold.

Highly functional operation
The big innovation with this model is the change of the DAC chip to AKM 4490, which allows the CD6007 to process high-resolution files. You need to use the USB Type-A socket on the front panel to transfer files to the player, as there are no other digital inputs. The ability to play high resolution music is offered. The latest generation model can handle 48 kHz files at best. Another technical change between the two generations of the player is a quieter power supply and improved HDAM amplifier modules.

Design and technical specifications
The build quality of the CD6007 is excellent, as with its predecessor. Everything is solid and neatly crafted, the device can belong to much higher price levels. The disk mechanism is quiet and responsive, all controls work with high precision. The player operates in a frequency response of 2 - 20 000 Hz, with a dynamic range of 100 dB and a power consumption of 32 W. The model is made with dimensions of 105 x 440 x 340 mm and a weight of 6.5 kg. The remote control is the design of the whole system and remains much the same as before, although some of the buttons have a slightly different job. Unusually, Marantz offers the option to turn off the digital outputs when not in use.

Sound signature
The CD6007 delivers a more vibrant and dramatic presentation. It is highly accurate, especially at low frequencies, and the range of sound is noticeably greater. Compared to the older machines, this new machine is sharper and more open. Stereo imaging is a major benefit, as the new Marantz can render a more expansive and focused soundstage. If the music is more challenging, it can be more easily localised. Dynamics are delivered with more verve and punch, bringing a nice sense of balance that ties everything together into a meaningful whole.
