Content A large-format foldout page at the beginning of this book provides an overview of the development of dinosaurs and shows how the species became increasingly varied in the 170 million years of the Mesozoic. The questions follow from that: What is a dinosaur, and which animals are not? Dinosaurs had horns or long necks, sharp fangs or beaks – why do these incredibly diverse animals belong to one species? These complex questions are answered in proven ways using pictures and flaps. And of course the questions that most fascinate children are addressed: What did dinosaurs eat? Did they take care of their young? Why did they get so big, and why did they die out? The answers to these questions in this book are based on the newest research. Not to be forgotten is the work of paleontologists, the scientists who dig up remains, piece them together into skeletons and interpret them. A page featuring the smallest, fastest and most unique dinosaurs rounds off this new standard-setting book on the ever-fascinating world of dinosaurs.
About the Series The WWW series stands out for its playful, enticing way of conveying just the information that kids want to know. Centered on who-what-how questions, the titles in the series explore subjects of great interest to young children. The thousands of questions children ask daily are answered by means of interactive elements, engaging illustrations, and age-appropriate texts. Because the lively illustrations convey so much, the books hold children's interest even without an adult to read the clear, friendly texts. WWW is ideally suited for preschool and kindergarten ages, for children 4 to 7 years old.
